Links to Interesting New Media Sites

Official Movie Sites

I'm not a great movie goer. I might see half a dozen films in a year. However, I've begun keeping track of "official" movie websites—some are quite interesting and use the web effectively. Something you should know, though, is that these websites are often created by small new media companies under contract to the studios and they don't get credit for their work on the site as far as I can see. Needless to say, only recent films have "official" websites.

A Beautigul Mind
This one is well worth exploring.

The Last Castle
I liked the film. The site's not bad, either— it offers a hint of the film experience.

K-19: The History
A documentary about the events that inspired the movie "K-19: The Widowmaker".

K-19: The Widowmaker
The official movie site - Flash version.

Insomnia
Haven't seen the movie but I like the website. It's not the usual movie site...

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
The site is a rather typical "movie" website — however, if you're a Tolkein fan, have a look at the legend stuff.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
Some zippy effects here.

In The Bedroom
This website uses clips from the film in a creative way.

Gosford Park
The site doesn't really capture the whodunit very well but it does reflect the "below stairs" / "above stairs" distinctions of the film.

Hard Ball
The site represents the three different worlds of the film.

Traffic
Not sure what to make of this site—it takes you places and then...

Chocolat
Lots of information about the movie and how it was produced.

Center of the World
This site is NOT a promo for a porno club, but it comes close, though, so beware. The site uses the medium quite well.
