MULTI-SYLLABIC WORDS CONTAINING BOTH LAX AND TENSE VOWELS

Multi-syllabic words in English consisting of one or more syllable with a lax vowel and ending with a syllable containing a tense vowel are highly predictable. Once learners understand the way these words are constructed they are easily able to spell them. Learning to spell multisyllabic words such as those in the list below allow children to intuit the syllabic structure of English words.
