In 1985 I initiated and developed an in-house publishing enterprise
for the Centre for Reading and Language Education at Mount Saint
Vincent University. The purpose of this publishing effort was to
make available to other educators monographs written by faculty
and graduate students. Under my direction the Centre produced and
marketed eight monographs in two years.
In April 1992 I began a small publishing company. I registered
the name, Braeside Books, obtained ISBN numbers from the National
Library, negotiated with designers and printers in order to
bring the book to fruition. The result of these efforts is
an anthology of poetry In Our Own Words: Poems by
Teachers (Braeside Books, 1993). This book has been a
financial success.
