Reflection on Process

A component of our summer program: Literacy, Curriculum, and Technology, was to create a web page on a topic that was relevant and of interest to us. The group came together because of a shared interest in the topic of Indoor Air Quality . After discussing our experiences with Indoor Air Quality, we felt the best way to begin was to do a broad research on the topic, mainly via the Internet. We were surprised to find so much information on the subject and felt it necessary to focus on Indoor Air Quality in schools. However, we included other pertinent examples.

Upon completion of the research, we organized the materials into major areas of concern and used individual folders as an organizing feature. We downloaded Internet information to Microsoft Word. We also typed other information onto the Word program. We then transferred the information from our Word files to html and used the Front-Page Editor program to format, edit, and design the web page. Group members chose areas of comfort and interest to work on. From here, members went on to learn the technology needed to complete the project.

From this experience, we feel all group membersí literacy skills were enhanced, especially in the area of technology. This web page is a product of the groupís collaborative efforts.
