SELF AS INFORMANT - 1
Constructing Meaning

I'd like you to spend some time exploring your own reading. To that end, I've taken four "experiments" from Ken Goodman's book On Reading. [Toronto: Scholastic Canada, Ltd.: 37-52]. Work your way through each Activity as I've outlined it. Freewrite about what happens to you as you explore your own reading. Then, try these activities with other adults. You may find them interesting to try with your students, too. See what you can discover about reading.

  • ACTIVITY 1 – Making Sense Of Print
  • ACTIVITY 2 – Sense And Nonsense
