Writing

The bulk of my writing has been academic – professional books, articles and columns in educational journals, curriculum guidelines, grant proposals, personal journals and so on.

In 1984, my interest in reading and young children's writing naturally broadened to include writing instruction. That year, I taught a new course on writing and learning to write for teachers. It didn't take long to discover that to be an effective teacher of writing I would have to experiment with a range of genres myself.

I offer here, a sampler of my writing.
